Change Hostname in Oracle Linux 7
In this blog, We will understand how to change the hostname of OEL 7
Check the current hostname:
[root@prim ~]# cat /etc/hostname prim.oracle.com
Fire the following command to change hostname:
[root@prim ~]# hostnamectl set-hostname node1.learnomate.org
Restart the service
[root@prim ssh]# systemctl restart systemd-hostnamed
You can also check the settings after modification with hostnamectl status. It is a bit misleading that your current session will show the old hostname. Logging out and in again will show the updated hostname (and also any new sessions will do so). It is a good practice to also update your /etc/hosts file for correct name resolution.
