ORA-15260: Permission Denied On ASM Disk Group
PROBLEM:
While creating a diskgroup , got ORA-15260: permission denied on ASM disk group error.
[oracle@19c]$ sqlplus / as SYSDBA SQL*Plus: Release 19.0.0.0.0 - Production on Fri AUG 29 18:42:58 2023 Version 19.3.0.0.0 Copyright (c) 1982, 2019, Oracle. All rights reserved. Connected to: Oracle Database 19c Enterprise Edition Release 19.0.0.0.0 - Production Version 19.3.0.0.0 SQL> create diskgroup ARCH external redundancy disk '/dev/oracleasm/disks/DSGRP'; create diskgroup DSGRP external redundancy disk '/dev/oracleasm/disks/DSGRP' * ERROR at line 1: ORA-15260: permission denied on ASM disk group
SOLUTION:
We were connected to the ASM instance with SYSDBA. So it was throwing error.
While creating diskgroup , you should always connect with SYSASM.
[oracle@19c]$ sqlplus / as sysasm SQL*Plus: Release 19.0.0.0.0 - Production on Fri Jun 18 18:42:58 2021 Version 19.3.0.0.0 Copyright (c) 1982, 2019, Oracle. All rights reserved.
